The ACWS Circle of Support

This November, ACWS is inviting our loyal donors to take part in a new monthly giving program, our Circle of Support.

Joining our Circle of Support is the best way to help ACWS. Having a strong core base of monthly support provides us with a great deal of stability.

This way, we are in a much better position to carry out long-term project planning. Most importantly, our Circle of Support is designed specifically for your lifestyle – you decide on a monthly amount that fits comfortably in your budget. Of course,

you are able to cancel or suspend your commitment at any time.

You can join our Circle of Support by authorizing ACWS to process monthly payments through MasterCard or VISA by calling 780 456 7000, or by sending 12 post-dated cheques to:

ACWS, 320-10310 Jasper Avenue

Edmonton AB T5J 2W4.

.

To launch the ACWS Circle of Support, we are offering a one-time gift to donors who pledge a monthl donation of $30 – just a dollar a day – or more. To show our gratitude we will send you a gift of a copy of Standing Together: women speak out about violence and abuse.

Silent Witness Project

The Silent Witness Project began as a US national initiative to honour women killed by their partners in acts of domestic violence. In 1990, an ad hoc group of women artists and writers, upset about the growing number of women in Minnesota being murdered by their partners, joined with women from other women's organizations to form The Arts Action Against Domestic Violence. They felt an urgency to do something to commemorate and honour the lives of 26 women who had died in 1990 as a result of domestic violence.

The Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters (ACWS) began their Silent Witness Initiative in 2004

Thank you to the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 177
for repainting and repairing the Silent Witness display.
