In the time it takes to brew a cup of tea,
3 women in Canada will be assaulted
by an intimate partner.
We work to end domestic violence because we believe that domestic
violence can end. Our partners and supporters believe it too.
We collaborate on innovative projects, conduct ground-breaking
research, provide state-of-the-art training to front-line shelter staff
and are founders of the Global Network of Women’s Shelters.
All of our work has a real impact on the day-to-day experiences
of many women.
We are the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters. Every day, 42
shelters across the province do remarkable work. By providing
a refuge to women, children and seniors living in violence,
and empowering them to create a future free from abuse,
Alberta shelters strengthen families and improve communities.
Please take the time to make yourself a
cup of tea and refl ect on the pandemic
we’re not all talking about.

What's the crisis?
Who cares for those in need?
What happens when there's no one there to care?
An increasing human resources crisis is leaving our most vulnerable citizens without proper assistance.
Organizations--such as women's shelters, childrens' and seniors' services, crisis centers and counselling services--
are meant to provide caring, attentive and unique support.
Their work plays a vital role in the provincial government's plan to "improve Albertans' quality of life, and provide safe and secure communities".
